ARE YOU A PART OF EVERYONE?

AND everyone WHO CALLS ON THE
NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED

ABOUT

WHAT IS THE EVERYONE INITIATIVE ALL ABOUT?

EveryONE is an intentional, prayerful, on-going effort by EveryONE at VRBC to build relational bridges to EveryONE of the 56,000 people in Valley Ranch and Coppell who are not yet connected to Christ or a local church.

WHAT CAN I DO TO HELP?

Seek – Pray and ask God to show you who your ONE is. Identify ONE person in your life who is not yet connected to Christ or a local church and commit to developing an authentic relationship with this ONE.

Serve – Be intentional and faithful in showing the love of Jesus to your ONE.

Socialize – Spend time investing in the relationship with your ONE.  Be a genuine friend.

Share – Embrace the opportunities God gives you with your ONE to tell about how Jesus has changed your life. When you bring your ONE to church, we’ll share the love of Jesus with everyONE as well.

GET CONNECTED

REACHING THE WORLD STARTS BY REACHING MY ONE.

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations…” – Matthew 28:19

Our hearts breaks when we realize that at least 56,000 (7 out of 10) people in Valley Ranch and Coppell are not currently connected to Christ or a local church. Week-in and week-out, people from across the globe relocate to our area for the great schools and jobs. So much so that 40 % of our neighbors now speak a language other than English in their homes. For years, our church has considered itself a mission base, but we now realize that we live in a mission field. God has placed us here to make a strategic, generational, global impact. By reaching our neighbors, we can reach the nations.

LET’S GET FOCUSED!

Our focus for the next few months is simply ONE. EveryONE of us committing to loving ONE unchurched person by building a relational bridge (seek-serve-socialize-share).

WORTHY GOAL, BIG IMPACT!

If everyONE reaches ONE, and then each of those reach another ONE, together we can build gospel connections with all the disconnected people in Valley Ranch and Coppell in our lifetime. This is our hope and our prayer. Because Jesus calls us to do it and empowers us for it, our goal is that 100% of current VRBCers will be building a relational bridge (seek-serve-socialize-share) with their ONE.

HOW DO I GET STARTED?

It’s simple! Join us over the upcoming weeks and months as we kick-off the everyONE inviting initiative. There are many ways to stay connected:

  1. Join a grow group this fall. There is no better way to stay connected to the initiative through the Grow Group curriculum and activities.

  2. everyONE sermon series. Join us in September and October for worship at 9:30 am and 11:00am every Sunday.

  3. Weekly devotionals. Check back to this website for weekly devotionals and resources throughout the initiative.

  4. Post your picture. Take a picture and post it on the display in the lobby at VRBC to show your support of the everyONE initiative.

  5. All-church community outreach. Be on the lookout for opportunities to reach our community in tangible ways this fall. Details coming soon!

  6. Share your story! Everyone at VRBC has one. Comment below and share a story of an instrumental person involved in bringing you to VRBC. Or someone you’ve invited.

  7. Pray! Pray that God would bless our efforts to reach and invite more people in our community to become connected to Christ through VRBC.

everyONE is an ambassador!

“We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God.” - 2 Corinthians 5:20 (NIV) What a powerful truth! EveryONE who follows Jesus is commissioned as an official ambassador (representative and messenger) to share with others the amazing news that EveryONE can be reconciled with God because of what Jesus did for us on the cross. Who is the ‘one’ Christ is asking you to be an ambassador to? This week’s EveryONE prayer is: “Jesus, show me who my ‘one’ is.”

EveryONE is Impactful!

“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden.” - Matthew 5:14 (NIV) Jesus says that EveryONE who is following him is an agent of light, benefiting EveryONE who comes into contact with them. How will you shine the light of Jesus (do good) to others this week? This week’s EveryONE prayer is: “Jesus, show me whom you are calling me to give your light and love to this week.”

EveryONE is Gifted!

“A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other.” - 1 Corinthians 12:7 (NLT) It’s an amazing thought to know that the God of the universe has uniquely gifted EveryONE in the church to serve Him and others. How will you use those God-given gifts this week? This week’s EveryONE prayer is: “Heavenly Father, help me recognize the gifts you have given me and to use them to serve others inside and outside the walls of the church.”

EVERYONE STORIES

Dear VRBC Family,

As we continue in our EveryONE initiative this fall, I am pleased to share with you details about our EveryONE Special Offering that begins now and continues through January 13, 2019. Through your generous gifts received during last year’s special offering, God moved in great ways. We are trusting Him again to use this offering to expand His kingdom among our neighbors and the nations.

With this offering, we have an incredible opportunity to live out the encouragement given to us in 2 Corinthians 8:7 – “But just as you excel in everything– in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in your love for us–see that you also excel in this grace of giving.” Allowing the Lord to stretch us to excel in giving equips His church to share His grace with even more people in the days ahead. It also allows us to reflect more of Jesus’ character in our lives, as we follow in the footsteps of the One who “did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many” (Mat 20:28).

Stated briefly, the EveryONE Special Offering is a call for all at VRBC to live invitationally and give sacrificially with a goal of raising $315,000 to fund four vital global, regional, and local ministry initiatives we have planned in next year’s budget. All gifts received help us to extend Christ’s love and care to more people in 2019 than would otherwise be possible. Specifically, this once-a-year challenge to give over and above your tithe/regular giving supports these four ministry impact areas:

  • Reaching the Lost: Extending the reach of our missionaries and mission partners globally, planting new churches regionally, and building relational bridges locally
  • Caring for the Poor: Ministering to the pressing physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of underserved people
  • Investing in the Next Generation: Reaching our kids for Christ and reaching out to kids and families in our community
  • Equipping Our People: Mobilizing all VRBCers to grow as disciples and leaders through catalytic training events and growth opportunities

Our Lord has blessed us in so many ways, and we believe that we have been blessed to be a blessing. This Special Offering will allow us to reach more people around the world, offer more help to the hurting around us, and invite more diverse and disconnected people to passionately follow Jesus together with us in 2019.

So, I hope you will carefully read the enclosed documents to learn about this exciting opportunity for all of us to give sacrificially. Will you begin praying now about what God would have you give, over-and-above your regular giving? Allow God to stretch your faith. And know that when EveryONE gives, EveryONE is impacted!

On the journey together,

Larry Parsley

Senior Pastor

  • Reaching the Lost: Extending the reach of our missionaries and mission partners globally, planting new churches regionally, and building relational bridges locally

To give, feel free to use the enclosed offering envelope. Write the amount of your gift on the red line designated “EveryONE Special Offering” and either mail the already postage-paid envelope to the VRBC office or drop it in the offering bucket on any Sunday now through January 13, 2019. You may also give a gift at any time online www.vrbc.net/give

FOUR MINISTRY IMPACT AREAS

75% of the offering will go toward…

  1. Reaching the Lost: Extending the reach of our missionaries and mission partners globally, planting new churches regionally, and building relational bridges locally.

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” – Acts 1:8

  • Funding 11 pioneering missionaries who are sharing the gospel in unreached countries, Muslim and Buddhist contexts, and red-light districts; mobilizing and discipling the next generation for missions; and planting and pastoring new churches.
  • Furthering the reach of our mission partners through sending VRBC mission teams to India and Uganda and supporting special ministry projects:
    • In India—helping the rescue and restoration of women and children who are enslaved in human trafficking in Mumbai, placing them in a loving safe house which provides access to therapy, life skills and job training, and introducing them to the love of Jesus.
      • Funds from last year’s special offering went toward the purchase of a 32-seat bus that will help transport the rescued girls to and from church, the training center, and other aspects of the restoration program.
    • In Uganda—Equipping South Sudanese refugees with the tools they need for financial independence (through Seed Effect’s microfinancing program), as well as introducing them to Jesus and connecting them to a local church.
  • Supporting front-line mission work around the world through the Baptist General Convention of Texas, Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, Dallas Baptist Association, and Southern Baptist Convention.
  • Planting new churches in the Rio Grande Valley in partnership with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship and Buckner International’s Family Hope Center where low-income families and immigrants can go to find hope, support, and empowerment to reach their fullest God-given potential, and sending a mission team to support this work.
    • Felipe de León and his wife, Perla, have already begun hosting outreach events in the community with Buckner, and they are launching a Bible study in the neighborhood near the Hope Center that will form the nucleus of a new church plant. VRBC’s support will help launch this new church this year and reach many families for Christ.
    • VRBC is also partnering with other DFW churches to help provide land and a church building for a neighboring church plant in the community of Donna, TX. This church will function as the local “mother church” for VRBC’s church plant in Peñitas. The Donna church is sending many leaders to do outreach in the Peñitas community and supporting the new church plant in many ways.
  • Supporting cross-cultural ministry at The Gaston Christian Center in east Dallas, which houses several ministries, including six different ethnic congregations, a thriving refugee ministry called Gateway of Grace, and a rapidly growing medical clinic to care to the diverse and disconnected in the area ministering to hundreds monthly.
  • Expanding our ESL ministry to build bridges to international residents in Valley Ranch and Coppell. We now offer six levels of classes and are reaching record numbers of students – more than 125 people from 20 different countries (with new students added weekly).
  • Enlarging our online outreach efforts through Search Engine Optimization and promoting ‘big days’ of worship (Easter, Mother’s Day, and Christmas Eve) to people in Coppell and Valley Ranch who aren’t yet connected to Christ or a local church.
  • Providing gifts to guests at our worship services, Newcomer Receptions, and in follow-up letters to help connect hundreds of disconnected people who will attend our church this year.
  1. Caring for the Poor: Ministering to the pressing physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of underserved people.

“He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap; he seats them with princes and has them inherit a throne of honor.” – 1 Samuel 2:8

  • Sharing the Good News and the love of Jesus with those in need at the Christmas Store in partnership with Cornerstone Baptist Church in south Dallas, El Buen Pastor in Lima, Peru, and local elementary schools in Valley Ranch and Coppell. We ministered to 1300 people locally and 400 globally last year, and we hope to reach even more next year.
  • Supporting Cornerstone Ministries to resource the homeless through the Clothes Closet and Cornerstone Kitchen. Last year, 229 volunteers from VRBC served 1200 homeless men and women by providing clothing and warm showers at the Clothes Closet. Additionally, 168 VRBC volunteers served 2400 lunches to the homeless at the Cornerstone Kitchen.
  • Contributing to Christian Community Action, Metrocrest Services, and Irving Cares (our local benevolence partners). CCA offers a wide-range of services designed to assist struggling families in overcoming challenges of changes to the family structure, unemployment or under-employment, major illness, or any situation that limits a family’s stability. Metrocrest provides emergency aid, financial assistance and other services to support independent living for individuals, families and seniors, along with seasonal programs including distribution of school shoes and supplies, summer food for hungry children, holiday food and gifts, and holiday baskets for seniors. Irving Cares supplies food to 727 families per month through its Food Pantry and provided rent/mortgage assistance to 171 families this past year.
  • Supporting Mission Arlington as they serve the poor, share the gospel, and lead Bible studies in 354 locations with over 3,102 people attending weekly. The mission aides 12,100 people in need every month.
  • Building bridges through the Access Life ministry to individuals with disabilities and their family throughout the Metroplex. They served 1056 people last year at the North Texas Access Life Expo. VRBC send a team of volunteers to serve at the Expo, and we hope to do so again this next year.
  • Providing 220 backpacks for students in need of school supplies at local elementary schools.
  • Feeding hungry children and families in Valley Ranch through the Sack Summer Hunger program. In 2018, we grew to supporting 31 families with a total of 66 kids. In 2019, we hope to expand our care even further.

25% of the offering will go toward…

  1. Investing in the Next Generation: Reaching our kids for Christ and reaching out to kids and families in our community

“We will not hide these truths from our children; we will tell the next generation about the glorious deeds of the LORD, about his power and his mighty wonders.” – Psalm 78:4

  • Expanding Vacation Bible School to serve over 320 children and their families this summer. Last year, we had the highest amount of engagement ever!
  • Sending 140 students and volunteers to New York City on mission to serve the poor and bring hope to the hopeless through the 86:12 Mission Trip. This year we are increasing the funding which will enable us to offer more scholarships to students in need and offset the total cost of the trip so more can participate. Last year, we had 25 new students go on this mission trip!
  • Ministering to students through transformative retreats, such as High School Fall Retreat to Glen Rose, Middle School Retreat to Pine Cove, and Winter Weekend at VRBC, which reach many diverse and disconnected students throughout the year.
  • Updating décor in the Student Ministry area at VRBC. We desire to provide engaging physical environments for the students to worship, grow, and connect.
  • Partnering with Ranchview and Coppell High Schools to support and sponsor booster club events and promote Refuge Student Ministry.
  • Providing Bibles for children and graduating seniors, along with other discipleship resources for new believers.
  • Connecting with our community through family-friendly Invite Events (Game Day, Summer Bash, and Family Fall Festival) and special Weekday Preschool programs which impact the lives of more than 1,500 diverse and disconnected people in our city.
  • Mobilizing 39 mentors and 39 prayer partners to build bridges with at-risk students at Tom Landry Elementary, Barbara Bush Middle School and other local schools.
  1. Equipping Our People: Mobilizing all VRBCers to grow as disciples and leaders through catalytic training events and growth opportunities

May he equip you with all you need for doing his will. May he produce in you, through the power of Jesus Christ, every good thing that is pleasing to him. All glory to him forever and ever! Amen.” – Hebrews 13:21

  • Developing servant leaders in our Children’s, Student, and Adult Ministries through providing catalytic training events, ongoing coaching, and equipping materials.
  • Expanding practical discipleship training in Explore Membership and Growth Seminars throughout the year at VRBC.
  • Providing books and content to support all Grow Group members in their walk with Christ. We hope to impact over 700 men, women, students, and children in 2019.
  • Offering transformative courses and classes, such as Financial Peace University, Re-engage, and Parenting Classes, which encourage and equip families to love and live in a way that honors God. More than 70 people were impacted by these courses in 2018, and we hope to equip many more in 2019.
  • Furthering VRBC’s ministry to men, women, singles, and seniors through providing engaging fellowship, discipleship, and service opportunities throughout the year.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why Do We Need a Special Offering?

This Special Offering is an invitation (not obligation) to give sacrificially for the dual purposes of reaching more people in 2019 and helping us to grow in our faith as we see God work through what we offer to Him. As part of God’s plan to increase the faith of His people, He calls all of us to sacrificial giving from time to time so that we can learn to trust Him more. Additionally, this Special Offering positions us to make an even greater impact in our community, in our church, and around the world in 2019.

What’s the Difference between the Regular Offering and This Special Offering?

Giving to the regular offering at VRBC is the proportional amount (the full tithe of 10%) that we set apart on a systematic basis and give throughout the year. From time to time there are opportunities to give in an increased, sacrificial way to fund or expand specific ministries. This special offering is intended to be over and above what you regularly give.

How Much Should I Give?

Since the goal is $315,000, this Special Offering will need to involve EveryONE at VRBC. Please prayerfully consider a sacrificial gift that will stretch your faith. The precise amount you give is between you and God. Many in our church can give a $5,000, $10,000 or even $50,000 gift. Others will be able to give between $500 and $1,000. The issue is not equal amount, but equal sacrifice. What amount can you give that will stretch your faith?

Why is the Goal So Big?

We worship a big God and we believe He has called us to do great things. Big dreams require big faith and big funding. The ministries supported by this offering are big and important, like funding our global missionaries, sending our students and teams on mission, serving the poor, funding the local Christmas Store, and equipping our leaders. The ability to accomplish all these ministries that we have planned to do in next year’s budget will be determined by your gifts to this year’s Special Offering.

When Should I Give?

The best time to give will be the first Sunday after you receive this packet. Please pray about making your best gift on that day. However, you can continue to give until January 14, 2018.  Also, remember that consistent gifts over time really do add up. For example, a person giving $50 per week over a ten-week period will give $500 to this Special Offering.

How Do I Give?

You can give by using the postage paid envelope in the worship folder or by marking your checks / online gifts / in-kind donations with “EveryONE.”

Can I Give Online via Bank Check or Credit/Debit Card?

Yes. When you give online at www.vrbc.net, simply select “EveryONE Special Offering” under the “Fund” drop-down menu to designate your gift. Likewise, you can use your bank online bill payment option to send a check directly to the church office. It’s a free and simple way for us to receive the funds. Again, simply mark in the memo area that your gift is for the “EveryONE Special Offering”.

Can I Give In-Kind Gifts of Stocks or Bonds?

Of course!  Since VRBC is a 501c3 organization there can be tax benefits for you by giving in-kind gifts. For information on this type of giving, simply call 972-304-8722 to speak with Donna Blankenship, Church Business Administrator, or e-mail dblankenship@vrbc.net.

Are My Gifts Tax-Deductible?

All gifts to VRBC, whether via the regular offering or this Special Offering, are completely tax-deductible. Your gift will be deductible in the tax year given (i.e., gifts given in 2018 will be deductible on your 2018 taxes). Please be sure to include your name and address when you give so that a receipt can be sent to you for your tax preparations. You are not required to utilize a tax-deduction for your gift, but it is available for all gifts.

How Did We Arrive at a $315,000 Goal?

The $315,000 goal was prayerfully set by VRBC’s Leadership. It is almost equal to one month of our regular monthly congregational contributions. It is a God-sized goal that can only be accomplished through 100% participation and sacrificial giving by all who call VRBC their church home. Since we are hoping and praying that God blesses this Special Offering in a big way, it has been determined that any amount received over and above our goal will be used to expand the purposes of the offering.

How Will I Know If We Reach Our Goal?

Please pray for God’s provision as we all give sacrificially. You will be updated on our giving progress through eNews and during the Sunday services. Reaching this goal will be a celebration of what God can do through us as we together stretch our faith in accordance with His grace and goodness. To God be the glory now and forever. Amen.
